1. The Trout Fishing Season will be from the 15th March to 30th September. Grayling fishing Season will be from the 16th June to 14th March, all dates inclusive.
2. The use of maggots, corn, bread and such-like baits is strictly prohibited on all Association Waters.
3. A catch and kill limit is 2 fish per day. Size limit, strictly: 10" to 15", 25cm to 38cm. It is requested that when possible fish are carefully returned.
4. No spinning is allowed, on all Appleby waters.
5. No worming on Bolton Willows until 1st May.
6. The sale of fish is strictly prohibited.
7. Children of Local Members, under 15 years of age, may fish free of charge provided they are accompanied by a full paying member.
8. Members may not be accompanied by dogs.
9. Membership Tickets must be carried and produced by members whenever called upon to do so by an authorised Bailiff or fellow member. Catches must also be open to inspection upon request.
10. Members are requested to leave gates as they find them, not to damage fences, to use stiles where provided and to keep to the water’s edge.
11. Maps of Association Water are available from the Ticket Secretary.
12. No member may have more than one rod in use at any one time.
13. Members must comply with the Bye-laws of the Environment Agency License.
14. All subscriptions to be paid by the 28th February each year.
15. Tickets must be carried at all times.
16. Please read and observe EA & AAA Bye-laws, Rules & Regulations.
17. Any person seeking to use the club water for financial gain, including but not excluding; guiding or tutoring, filming & influencing, will only be permitted at the discretion of the committee. A written request must be sent to the committee prior to 15th March each year. Visitors/day tickets may be guided but only by an approved guide.

1. NAME:
The Association shall be named the Appleby Angling Association.
2. OBJECTS:
The general objects of the Association shall be to provide, for its members, the facilities for fishing and to promote the interests of Angling and Anglers.
3. TRUSTEES:
(a) There shall be appointed a Corporate Body, as sole Trustee, and that there shall be not less than two or more than three Trustees of the Association, for the purpose of being parties to any Conveyance of Lease, whereby property or other hereditaments are vested in the sole Trustee.
(b) Trustees shall hold office until death or resignation, or until removed from office by a Resolution of the Committee.
(c) All property of the Association (except cash which shall be under the control of the Honorary Treasurer) including Leases and Fishing Leases shall be vested in the Trustees, to be dealt with by them as the Committee shall from time to time by Resolution direct.
(d) The Trustees & Officers of the Association, entitled to be, shall be indemnified, out of the Assets of the Club, against any risk and expense incurred by them in pursuance of their office.
4. MEMBERSHIP:
(a) The Association shall consist of the following classes of Members:-
(1) Local Residents - unrestricted in number. (Local Resident Qualifications - any person who permanently resides within a radius of nine miles from the centre of Appleby.)
(2) Non-Residents - restricted to number decided at the discretion of the Committee.
(3) Junior Members - (Resident and Non-Resident under 18 years of age). Restricted as in (2) above.
(4) Day Members - Persons who buy a valid day ticket shall become day members for 24 hours.
(b) Every candidate for membership shall sign the application form, digital signatures are accepted.
(c) Membership applications may be refused by the Committee without stating a reason.
(d) Every member on joining shall pay the first annual subscription within two weeks and shall be deemed to have agreed to be bound by the Rules and Bye-laws of the Association.
(e) Day tickets may be issued at the discretion of the Committee.
5. SUBSCRIPTION:The annual subscription, payable by members, shall be such sum as the members shall determine from time to time at a General Meeting.
In the event of any members subscription not being paid by the 30th March and the member neglects to comply with a written request for payment within 28 days, they shall cease to be a member and shall only be re-admitted to membership at the discretion of the Committee and on payment of all subscriptions in arrears.
6. EXPULSION:
(a) The Committee shall expel from the Association any member for conduct, which in their opinion is damaging or tends to be damaging to the interests of the Association or its members. Before expelling a member they shall be given a reasonable opportunity to defend themselves, either in writing or by appearing before the Committee as they shall elect. The Committee's power to expel shall be on a majority vote of those present at the enquiry.
(b) An expelled member shall forfeit all rights and privileges of membership but shall remain liable for any dues or debts to the Association which become payable, or were incurred before the date of expulsion.
7. MANAGEMENT:
The Management of the Association shall be vested in the Committee (except as otherwise provided by these Rules).
8. OFFICERS:
Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and Honorary Auditor shall be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting of the Association after being proposed and seconded and indicating their consent. Officers shall be ex-officio members of the Committee.
9. THE COMMITTEE:
(a) The Committee shall consist of the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer, as well as, not less than 8, or more than 16, local Resident Members of the Association, who have been elected at the Annual General Meeting.
(b) It may, at its discretion, invite any persons whether members or not to attend any Committee Meeting (with no power to vote).
(c) At the Annual General Meeting the Committee shall retire from office but shall be eligible for re-election, every member shall be entitled to vote for as many candidates as there are vacancies to be filled. In the case of two or more candidates receiving an equal number of votes the Chairperson of the meeting shall have a second or casting vote.
(d) The Committee shall have power to co-opt up to two members, to fill any casual vacancy on the Committee. Any member so appointed shall retire at the next Annual General Meeting but shall be eligible for re-election.
(e) The Committee shall meet not less than four times in each year to examine the accounts and arrange the affairs of the Association. Minutes shall be taken of every Meeting.
(f) Committee members should attend at least two committee meetings within 12 months or their re-election may be reviewed.
10. BYE-LAWS:
(a) The Bye-laws set out in the Appendix to these Rules and any Bye-laws made under para. (b) of this Rule shall be binding upon members, until repealed by the Committee, or by a Resolution of a General Meeting. Subject to any amendment under para. (b) of this Rule.
(b) The Committee shall from time to time make, repeal, or amend all such Bye-laws as they deem expedient (provided that they shall not be inconsistent with these Rules) to take effect unless set aside at a Annual General Meeting.
11. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
The Annual General Meeting of the Association shall be held in the month of December in each year; to receive and consider the audited accounts and balance sheet prepared by the Hon. Treasurer; to appoint officers and Auditors; to elect the Committee; to decide on any resolutions submitted by the Committee under Rule 14.
12. SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING:
A Special Meeting may be held at any time that the Committee shall determine. Also the Committee shall call a Special General Meeting, upon the requisition in writing, of any ten members. For the purpose stated in the requisition, and upon receipt of such a requisition, unless they shall determine the purpose to be frivolous, the Committee shall call the meeting within 40 days of the receipt, by the Hon. Secretary, of the requisition.
13. NOTICES OF GENERAL MEETINGS AND RESOLUTIONS:
(a) Notice of the date of every Annual General Meeting shall be incorporated in the Membership Card and members must submit Resolutions at least 30 days before the date of the meeting.
(b) Notice of any item to be included on the agenda to be moved at an Annual General Meeting, unless recommended by the Committee, shall be submitted in writing, to the Hon. Secretary at least 30 days before the meeting and signed by the proposer and seconder.
(c) Any such item, unless withdrawn, shall be included in the business of the Meeting.
(d) The agenda for the Annual General Meeting shall be obtainable on request from the Hon. Secretary.
(e) There shall be no AOB included in agendas for meetings. Instead there will be an opportunity, ‘Proposals for Next Meeting’, for members to present items for inclusion into the agenda of the next meeting. This shall be the same format for committee meetings.
14. PROCEEDINGS AT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS:
(a) 10 members shall form a quorum at any Annual General Meeting.
(b) At every Annual General Meeting the Vice Chairperson, or, in their absence, a member, elected by the members present, shall take the Chair.
(c) The Chairperson and all Local Members present shall be entitled to vote. In the event of an equality of votes the residing Chairperson of the Annual General Meeting, shall have a second or casting vote.
(d) Except as otherwise provided by these Rules, a majority vote of Members present and voting, shall carry any motion or Resolution, save that no Rule of the Association may be made, repealed or amended on a vote of less than two-thirds of the members present and voting.
15. INTERPRETATION:
The Committee shall be the sole authority for the interpretation of the Association Rules and Bye-laws. The decision of the Committee, upon any question of interpretation, or any matter affecting the Association, not provided for by the Rules and Bye-laws, shall be final and binding upon the Members.
16. RENTS:
The Committee shall have power to acquire fishing and to vary the annual rents paid to the Riparian Owners as and when it is considered expedient.
17. OLD AGE PENSIONERS:
Members who achieve Statutory Pensionable Age shall qualify for concessionary rates as determined from time to time at Annual General Meetings.
